PLAN AND PROGRAM:

Day 1: ZAGREB, KARLOVAC, RIJEKA – MILANO

The bus departs from Zagreb at 05:00 a.m. from the Central Station (details will be provided in the final notification two days before departure), at 05:45 a.m. from Karlovac (petrol gas station, advance notice required), and at 07:30 a.m. from Rijeka, Vrata Jadran (advance notice required). Pleasant driving with occasional breaks. Upon arrival in Milan, we will start sightseeing the city’s most important attractions by public transport and on foot. We will visit the fortress of the Sforza family, the famous La Scala – one of the world’s most famous theaters, the Milan Cathedral which is an architectural wonder, the Corso – the most famous shopping street in Milan with numerous restaurants and shops, and the impressive Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the oldest shopping center in the world. After sightseeing, free time to rest with real Italian coffee, shopping or visiting museums. You can enjoy dinner in one of the many restaurants or typical Milanese trattorias. After that, hotel accommodation and overnight stay.

Day 2: LAGO DI COMO – SWITZERLAND / LUGANO

After breakfast, we will head towards the beautiful glacial lake Lago di Como, the third largest in Italy and one of the deepest lakes in Europe (410m). We will walk through the center of the city of Como, famous for its impressive Gothic cathedral and the wonderful promenade along the lake. There you will have free time to walk, shop and enjoy the atmosphere. We suggest an optional excursion near Switzerland to the city of Lugano on the shores of Lago di Lugano. Lugano is known as the “Swiss Monte Carlo” and is located on the shores of Lake Lago di Lugano. We will visit the main sights of the city, including the cathedral of St. Lovre, Piazza Ciochara, Piazza della Reforma, Casino and the promenade by the lake. You will have free time to enjoy the atmosphere and taste Swiss delicacies. During the warm months, you can opt to take the cable car up to the mountain above Lugano, where you will enjoy a wonderful view of the Alps and Lago di Lugano. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

Day 3: LAGO MAGGIORE – STRESA – BORROMEI ISLANDS – RIJEKA, ZAGREB

After breakfast, we will check out of the hotel and head towards Lake Maggiore, one of the most beautiful lakes in the northern part of Italy. We will visit the picturesque town of Stresa located by the lake, which has been a favorite summer resort of the rich and famous since the beginning of the 20th century. Stresa is known for its Belle Epoque villas that have been converted into hotels. While walking around the city, you will have free time to enjoy and explore. We suggest an optional boat trip to the Borromean Islands, named after the aristocratic Borromeo family that has owned them for centuries. We will visit the island of Isola Bella with beautiful gardens and a baroque castle, and the island of Isola dei Pescatori, which is famous for its fishing village. On the island we will have free time to walk and enjoy the atmosphere and optionally have lunch in one of the many restaurants with typical Italian cuisine. After the tour, we will leave for Croatia in the afternoon. Arrival in Rijeka in the evening, and in Zagreb in the late evening.
